I recycle because I prefer parks to landfills.

Quite simply,
The more that we recycle, the fewer landfills we will need,
and the more parks we can have!!

In parks you can find beautiful things like this

 and these

and this

and really happy people like these

and all I have to do is this...

This is my personal "home waste management center."  With the 5 gal. buckets I got from my food co-op, nothing ever gets too heavy to carry.  Everything is presorted and easily loaded into the car about once a week for deposit at our local recycling center.  The compost, to the far right is emptied every other day into one of our "Earth Machines."

Worms, yea!! Worms rule!!!

As you can see I have 2 composters now.  It’s simply more efficient this way.  Since composting requires layers I’ve located my yard waste pen next to my composters.  When I add my kitchen waste to the “active” composter, I cover it with leaves from my yard waste pen and then cover that with compost from the “finished” composter. Every three months I switch composters.  I add some compost from the “finished” composter to my garden and save the remaining compost for the next round of composting, like sourdough bread starter.
